Cancer Research UK

Why?

Manuel has a personal experience of cancer from which he has been declared cured and which has left him feeling very fortunate.

He now feels that he has the opportunity to do something for those who are are not and will not be as lucky as him. The untimely death of Slavka Bradley, a personal friend after whom his aircraft is named, is a poignant reminder of the tragedy that affects so many families.

The detection of his own cancer was down to nothing more than luck - Manuel was actually having his appendix removed at the time. His cure was down to the acute observation and skill of his surgeon.

In his own words, he says "I owe my cure to a great medical team at Ronkswood Hospital (now Worcester Royal Infirmary) and a great deal of luck - it would be nice to be able to help give others an alternative to luck."
